Non-Profit Homeschooling

I'm super excited! This weekend we are having a yardsale at the apartments where Eric works... but that isn't the cool part....

The kids have gotten permission to have their very own fundraiser! It's going to be a major project, but we are all really looking forward to it.

A few of the things the kids will be doing this week include:
  •  researching and testing easy cookie recipes
  • making a shopping list, comparing prices and making their own purchases
  • figuring out the difference between a gross income and a net income
  • making their own signs (and figuring out strategic places to put them)
  • coming up with a plan for telling people about what they are raising money for
  • and of course, managing transactions
And all of this work will be going to starting a playground fund for the church! (We've planted grass and have the beginnings of a swing set, but with close to 20 kids already, we would love to have so much more to offer!) The kids will be working hard this week to get everything ready for their first ever fund raiser... and I am one proud mommy! (Check it out... I even put an ad up on www.yardsalesearch.com!)
