Sharing Blessings

What a great visit! Mom stopped by after work to bring us our mail and some boxes… she is hoping we could fill them with clothing and such to send down to Mexico with someone a co-worker knows. What a great opportunity to be a blessing and share the gospel with others! And now, the gifts that God has given us through the free bags from the thrift shop will be able to truly benefit people who need it.

We have such abundance here in America, even in the poverty stricken areas, that we are overwhelmed by it and struggle because of it. We simply have too much, and the clutter that is filling up our lives detracts from the simplicity that God has designed us to enjoy. Because our lives are so weighed down by the material things all around us, we fail to see and enjoy the simple things in life, and by doing so, we seek out only that which is difficult. We seem to have this mentality that everything must be hard and be fought for. But it is a misconception. God offers us peace, rest and simple faith… nothing complicated about it.  I’m thankful for that “simplicity that is in Christ.” (2Co 11:3) and for the ability to share it with others.

Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf. For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.   ~2 Corinthians 1:11-12
